Local Plan - act now

SCDC's new map

This map was given to Benhall PC on 9th August. It is at variance with the map published in SCDC's local plan.

October 2019 update

This is the letter that went to LTLA supporters detailing our representation the National Planning Inspectorate's hearings into East Suffolk Council’s Local Plan. We hope for a response to the hearings in November or December.

Horrific development

This map, from SCDC, shows the extent of the horrific development potential.

The development area is significantly bigger than that provided in SCDC's local plan and is therefore (we contend) illegal.

It outlines the vast and unviable 'Garden Neighbourhood' plan onto which would be built 900 new homes - representing a disproportionate 47% increase in the number of dwellings in Saxmundham and affectively joining the market town to the villages of Benhall and Sternfield.

SCDC's Local Plan

You can see the plan online at:

There is also a copy at Saxmundham Library.

Please share this information with people who aren't online and who care about The Layers.

The formal consultation period on the Local Plan closes on 14th September.

It is essential that as many people as possible lodge their views with SCDC before this date.

Please also write to our MP's and councillors. Their details are on this site.

Remember, they are elected to serve us, not their own interests.
